End the practice of police interrogating children without a lawyer. #Right2RemainSilent
In New York State it is still legal for police to question children without a lawyer present. Intimidating interrogations have led children to confess to crimes they haven’t committed, such as happened with the Central Park 5 in the Netflix documentary “When they See Us.” The #Right2RemainSilent campaign seeks to protect the rights of children by making it illegal for police to interrogate children without their lawyer present. Learn more about the campaign here. A campaign launch is scheduled for February 25.
