Coalition members are primarily organizations and some individual organizers who are working on a campaign or providing services for those impacted by any aspect of the criminal justice system, and aligns with the coalition mission and principles. Others who align with our principles but don’t fall into one of these categories are welcome to work with the coalition in various capacities, but can’t be listed as official members.
Join us at one of our monthly meetings, on the first Thursday of every month at 3 pm. Contact us by emailing info@freethepeoplewny.com to receive the meeting info. If you are interested in becoming a coalition member, please fill out a membership form.

In response to the inadequate Buffalo police reform agenda that Mayor Brown released, local advocates will be holding a press conference on Friday at 9:30 AM to respond. The agenda falsely claims to be based on community input and is only open to the community for a two day period for comments. We would like to set the record straight.

For months, all of us have called on Governor Cuomo to exercise his clemency power during the COVID-19 outbreak and release as many people from jail and prison as possible, but he has taken no meaningful action. We need Governor Cuomo to take immediate action and release all aging people at the Adirondack Correctional Facility.
The Proximity bill which will ensure that incarcerated parents are placed in facilities close to their children was sent to Governor Cuomo and is awaiting his signature!
